Mike Wood, our race coach and one of our young assistant instructors has just won the Topper World Championships at Lake Garda. He had not sailed the Topper since the Inland Championships at the beginning of May as he has been campaigning in the 29er. This summer he has competed successfully in the German Youth Championship, the Europeans Championships in Sweden and the British Nationals at Llandudno.
He travelled straight from Llandudno on the Friday evening after racing and arrived in Italy midday on Sat and sailed his Topper for the first time on Sunday morning.
There were 173 boats competing at the championship. Mike won the event with 19 points over 5 races to become the 2007 World Champion. Results Yachts and Yachting Article Mike's web site
